Activity Tracking
Recording and classification are separate concerns, and the reports treat them that way.
Knowing what you did and deciding whether it counted as productive are two separate jobs, and TimeLet keeps them apart.
Three hours in Visual Studio Code produces three independent numbers.
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Total Tracked | 3h |
| Productive Time | 3h |
| Focused Time | 0h |
Start a 25 minute focus session and all three move.
| Metric | Change |
|---|---|
| Total Tracked | +25m |
| Productive Time | +25m |
| Focused Time | +25m |
When an activity starts and stops
- An activity starts when a window gains focus and closes when focus moves elsewhere.
- Revisiting the same application creates a second activity. Contiguous is the rule, not unique.
- Idle periods do not accrue. Neither does time spent in an excluded application.
- Paused time is discarded, not buffered. There is no backfill on resume.
When you step away
After the configured idle threshold the current activity stops accruing. Lower it if you switch windows constantly; raise it if you read for long stretches without touching the keyboard.
