Productivity Categories
Productivity is a property of a category. Correcting a category rewrites history.
Activities are grouped into categories, and categories carry a classification. TimeLet assigns the category automatically; you only intervene when the default is wrong.
The categories
| Category | Counted as |
|---|---|
| Development | Productive |
| Productivity | Productive |
| Research | Productive |
| Communication | Neutral |
| Finance & Trading | Productive |
| Entertainment | Distracting |
| System | Neutral |
| Others | Neutral |
Why apps are grouped at all
Keeping the app list and the classification separate means one correction fixes an entire category. Move Communication from Neutral to Distracting once and every Slack minute in your history reclassifies with it.
Changing a category
- Category level — reclassifies every application in the category.
- Application level — reclassifies one application and leaves its category intact.
- Domain level — reclassifies one website, applied by the extension.
Fixing a mistake changes your history
Activity rows store a category, but the classification you see is resolved when the data is read. Changing a category changes totals for every day on record immediately, with no migration. Expect a dashboard that appears to shift without any new activity.
